-when you first start the game you will be in ashes room in front of the T.V There is a computer in the upper left corner go to in and withdraw the potion(press A to do so or press B to cancel.) You will need the potion to heal your injured pokemon. After that go down stairs were your mother is waiting talk to her She will tell you that Professor Oak is looking for you,Yet don't go to his lab(his lab is the biggest building in Pallet Town)explore pallet town then head to rout one once you enter the grassy area Prof. Oak will stop you and tell you that there is dangerous pokemon out there and that you will need one for your own protection.He will then escort you to his lab walk into his lab and go to the table with the Three balls on it. In those Balls are pokemon. There is a charmander, squirtle,and a bulbasuar.If you are new to the game you may want to pick squirtle or bulbasuar. After you pick your Pokemon Your rival Gary will choose a poke'mon after that walk towards the exit, Gary your rival will battle you. That will be your first battle and there is many more to do! after you defeat or loose to gary you will have to continue on in your game and head to Viridian City and pick up Prof Oaks "Parcel"(oaks parcel is at the pokemart in Ciridian City) then go back to pallet town and give it to oak and in return Oak will give you a pokedex. A pokedex is What records every pokemon you catch or see and gives you a picture of that pokemon and if you catch it it will give you stats.After you get out of Oaks lab go to your rivals house (the house on the right next to yours) and get the town map that Gary's sister has.After that Head To Viridian City go to the poke'mart and buy about 10 pokeballs and a good supplie of antidote and potion for the journey through Viridian Forest.
